The Officers’ Mess is an institution that influences all aspects of an officer’s life, be it in the way he/she dresses, conducts in public or private, and in his/her financial affairs. This is done by a corporate system of social education, the implementation of which is agreed upon by the members of the Mess. It is an institution that automatically molds an officer’s character and his/her way of life at all times. Mess customs and traditions instill in an officer, a strong sense of loyalty, understanding, and cooperation with others at all times. The observance of customs and traditions passed on by those before us should be spontaneous. The Mess is the common home of all officers. It is where the spirit of comradeship is developed. In the Mess, officers meet on equal terms; a very rare occasion no officer can afford to miss.
